You will investigate the properties of sound. You will learn how sound is produced by different objects, including musical instruments. As you work through project, you will gather enough knowledge to create a musical instrument of your own.
Your Goal: To design, build, and play a simple musical instrument Your musical instrument must:
Project Directions Plan It: Begin by discussing different kinds of stringed instruments with classmates. What instruments are common in your favorite type of music? Which type of instrument would you like to build? Make a list of materials you could use to build your instrument. Then, design and sketch your instrument. After your teacher approves your design, build your instrument and test it by playing a simple tune. Cavity Detector
DIAGNOdent measures the fluorescence within teeth. The laser light, attached to a countertop display unit, is used to scan the surface of a tooth and measure the reflected laser light energy, sending a readout to the display unit. A clean healthy tooth will exhibit little to no fluorescence, resulting in a low reading on the display. A tooth with present decay will exhibit fluorescence in proportion to the size of the decay, resulting in a higher reading on the display.
